Description:
Gold Mining Company in Tanzania seeks to employ an experienced Project Cost Controller.
The selected candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Capital Cost Control process at the various sites and for ensuring that the use of capital funds conforms to the standards and procedures prescribed by the Regional Capital Cost Control Manager.
The position provides the control, management, forecasting and reporting requirements within the Capital Projects domain within the mine or projects environment.
The position has a direct responsibility to the Project Manager and functionally responsible to the Regional Capital Cost Control Manager.
Key result areas/essential functions
Cost Engineering and estimating – Incumbent must know and have experience in the following:
* Understand the classification of cost
* Understand the deterministic estimating methodology
* Understand the estimating classification
* Be able to work with a Code of accounts and/or be able to develop it.
* Understand the use of a cost breakdown structure.
* Understand the basic concepts and procedures of descriptive statistics.
* Understand the types of contracts typically employed in capital projects, their requirements and potential advantages and disadvantages of each.
* Understand and use of correct terminology.
* Understand and the use of escalation concepts and calculations.
* Understand the basic requirements of project controls
* Understand the concepts of cost control and how to do and use a cost report in a fixed budget
* Understand the basic steps of time management.
* Understand the importance of planning and establishing a “planning culture” in an organization
* Identify the planning tools available to the cost engineer
* Understand the major elements of planning
* Understand the use of correct terminology.
Education Requirements:
A cost engineering estimating and cost control Diploma or minimum 3 years Capital Cost Control experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
Experience Requirements:
* A track record of accomplishments with excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to interfere with a broad range of professional staff, both internally and externally.
* Ability to prioritise competing work tasks and not be distracted from achieving deadlines.
* Proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel, Word and Power Point
* The Candidate will be working on a 8/4 Roster meaning its 8 weeks in and 4 weeks off
