Africa’s Children-Africa’s Future (AC-AF) is a non-governmental organization currently operating in Canada and Tanzania. We work with vulnerable children to allow them to realize their childhood dreams, live well balanced lives, provide for their families and support their communities through a rights-based framework. Many of these children may have been orphaned as a result of AIDS and will have been identified by the community as being particularly vulnerable. In addition, we work with the local communities to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS. In raising awareness, we educate and encourage community members to protect themselves against transmission, provide support and advice to those already infected, and seek to reduce stigma and discrimination against those infected and affected. We are looking for qualified candidates for the position of Programme Manager to lead our team in the Dar es Salaam office.

Responsibilities:
As Junior Project Officer, you will be expected to assist the Programme Manager, African Support Co-ordinator and Executive Director in implementing programming. This will include participating in field work where you will be expected to directly interact with children in meetings, workshops, and personal interviews. You will also be expected to fulfil all report requirements, carry out research, and assist in translations when necessary. The work of the team is varied and you will need to be flexible in the tasks that you are willing to undertake.

Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant field is preferable (but not essential) for this position.

However, the successful candidate will also be expected to be hardworking and very enthusiastic as part of a busy team.

Previous experience of working with children is preferable while excellent written and spoken English is essential. Candidates should have a good knowledge of MS Office applications.

Remuneration:
This is a voluntary position although a monthly volunteer supplement will be paid.

Please note that this is not a substantial remuneration but is intended to cover the living costs of the successful candidate.
