In Tanzania, Oxfam GB is currently working in Ngorongoro district and Shinyanga region, focusing on Economic Justice – Rural Livelihoods (including smallholder, pastoralist and women’s livelihoods); Gender Justice – Equality for Women and Active Citizenship – Quality Education and Community Empowerment.
We are currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable Private Sector Advisor to enhance the impact of our work in Tanzania.
The role
Reporting to programme Coordinator Economic Justice, you will be responsible in strengthening the sisal, rice, vegetables and Local chicken value chain in Shinyanga region with women and men producers and processors, Lead in guiding the Agricultural Scale Up along business orientation, facilitate market linkages between smallholder farmers and Private Sector in TASU, managing relationships with the government agencies and donors in relation to engagement and relations with the private sector, Identify private sector opportunities and provide advice to programme staff on best methods for engagement with these opportunities, Ensure that TASU staff and others within Tanzania working on improving livelihoods are aware of privates sector activities and trends in Tanzania, the region and globally that are related to development of smallholder producers, facilitate the process of developing business model/s in relation to value chains implemented by TASU In consultation with relevant stakeholders, Coordinate plans to address Private Sector agenda in TASU and support field staff to implement private sector strategies to sustain value chains, Provide capacity building to Oxfam project staff and partners on Private Sector engagement, Liaise with Oxfam finance department on compliance of projects management in OPAL and PeopleSoft
The person
A candidate envisaged for this role will hold a Higher Education in Economics, Agriculture Economics and Agribusiness, Public Administration or other relevant discipline with at least 3 years of professional experience in the area of Private sector Development and sound knowledge of the agricultural sectors, possess Knowledge and competence on Value Chain Development, Private Sector, gender, Enterprises Development and related development matters, possess Sound knowledge of the national policy environment in Tanzania, economic growth, pro-poor policies, Experience in working with development partners, the government, and development of contractual agreements , Profound knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems and being able to translate M&E concepts to practical agreeable and implementable activities, Strong track record of Project Cycle Management, Excellent communication skills both written and verbal English and Kiswahili as well as strong management, communication and coordination skills.
